Follow this guide when cutting and folding the pieces of your tunnel book.
Step 1. Cut out the front and back pieces of your New York tunnel book along the solid black lines. Don't forget to cut out the peep holes on the front piece as well!
Step 2. Cut out the three middle layers of your tunnel book by following the solid black outlines. Make sure that you don't cut the side tabs off! Also cut out the inside gray areas, either with an X-Acto knife, or by poking your scissors through the center to make a hole from which to cut.
Step 3. Cut out the two side pieces by following the solid black outlines.
Step 4. Take the front piece and mountain fold it along the dotted line. Glue the two layers together so that you have a double-thick card. (Note that the holes from both sides line up so that you have a hole in the middle of the piece.) Repeat this step for the back piece as well.
Step 5. Follow the dotted lines to mountain and valley fold the side pieces into accordions.
Step 6. Put a small amount of glue on the grey area marked "1A Glue".
Step 7. Take your back piece and line up its "1A Glue" area with its matching area on the side piece.
Step 8. Repeat step 6 with the area on the other side piece marked "1B Glue".
Step 9. Repeat step 7 with the area on the other side piece marked "1B Glue".
Step 10. Mountain fold the tabs on the sides of your middle pieces, starting with the piece labeled "2A" and "2B".
Step 11. Put a small amount of glue on your accordion sides, in the areas marked "2A" and "2B".
Step 12. Match the tabs "2A" and "2B" to their corresponding glue areas on the accordion sides. Repeat steps 10-12 with the pieces labeled "3A/3B" and "4A/4B".
Step 13. Put a small amount of glue on the back of your front piece, on the glue areas marked "5A glue" and "5B glue"
Step 14. Attach the front piece to the front tabs on your accordion sides by matching up the tabs to the glue areas on the back of the front piece.
Step 15. Collapse your tunnel book by accordion folding the sides inwards.
